D15: Sizewell to Scratby via Lowestoft

Tide stuff:
The tide here is like a big river that runs back and forth shopping the coast. I paddle at 7kph the tide peaks at 5kph for 2 hours at peak flow.

So if I want to go 12kph rather than 2kph, I paddle with the tide. It's a bit more complicated than that, but not by much.

The high tide times generally advance an hour a day. BUT when you are paddling in the relevant direction 30 to 40km per day, the advance is frozen. Which has not been good for me, as I have synced such the middle of the day the tide is in the wrong direction. Hence I find myself getting up at 4 am paddling until 10 and setting off again at 4pm for a second session. Stopping for a couple of days is good as it means the window shifts to a more civilised hour.

When I cross The Wash, which is the meeting point for the southern and northern tide flows, everything is reversed.
I'll worry about that in Skegness.

My kip on Lowestoft beach never came to fruition do to heavy rain showers.
